With the COMPLETION of the new Foy’s to Blacktail Trail at the end of the summer, 2017, we have changed the 1/2 marathon and 10k courses so they are on more single track and use the new boundary trails. Scroll to the bottom of this page to see the new maps. In summary, the 10k course goes up the Notch trail to the Overlook, down and up the boundary trails, over to the Chase trail, then down to the old road. After the switch back toward the gate on a Weyerhaeuser road, the course connects to the Horse Trail then on to the Family Trail until finishing by the pavilion.
The half marathon route will follow the 10k route but when hitting the Chase trail, you will go up to the new Foy’s to Blacktail Trail at the top of the ridge. You will run the ridge until ~ mile 8 when you cross an old logging road. From there you will cut down on a steep old skid road to where it connects to the end of another old logging road. The last 5 miles are a fast, mostly downhill run on this road until you connect back into the 10k route described above. You will finish the same way the 5k and 10k racers finish (i.e. Horse and Family trails).
RACE RESULTS from the 2017 and past Herron Half Marathon,10k and 5k races can be found at Competitive Timing. Ted and Tanya Van from Lone Pine Photography have provided a link to their website, which includes many pictures (likely one of you, too) that they took. Click HERE to go to their web page.

All racers will be required to carry their own bottle in order to utilize water or HEED at aid stations. Cups may be available, but don’t count on them.
Race Bibs and Packets
Race bibs can be picked up starting at 7:30 a.m. on race day. Packets, including give aways from sponsors and a newly designed buff/neck gaiter will be handed out to racers as they complete the race.
At 11:30 am, we will provide an informal kids’ race for those under the age of 13. There is no charge for this race. Bibs will be provided but there will be no official timing. We will recognize the top 3 racers of each gender. Kids will get stickers with the Herron Half Logo as their “swag” for completing the race.
Parking is available in the main Herron parking lot. Additional parking is available in the stable parking lot, past the main Herron lot on the right side. If you choose to park along the road, please park off the shoulder to allow for cars to pass on Foy’s Lake Road. We will have volunteers assisting with parking.
We can’t do it without all of the great volunteers! Please contact Brian Miller, Race Director at email@example.com if you would be willing to help with any of the many tasks, such as staffing an aide station, directing cars toward parking options, helping with registration, giving out awards, marking the course ahead of time, or taking down the course afterwards.
We’ll make it quick, but we also want to give you overall and age group winners your time in the spotlight. In addition, we will give away lots of cool stuff donated by our sponsors by random drawing to race participants sticking around to the end of the awards ceremony.
